DANCE

MODERN

“The dance can reveal everything mysterious that is hidden in music, and it has the additional merit of being human and palpable. Dancing is poetry with arms and legs” – Charles Baudelaire

Modern dance was born in the early decades of the 20th century and originated, at the same time, from both United States and Germany. Modern Dance is based on the flow of body movement in a harmonious way that expresses the rhythms of nature and the most noble feelings of humans.

Children who study modern dance develop continuity and harmony in their movement, while their body is exercised symmetrically and becomes flexible. Modern Dance consists of aerobic and floor exercises that help in the development of body elasticity and in general exercises that help to strengthen and train body muscles. Through simple movements, modern dance gives the dancer the opportunity to strengthen the perception of his body and hence of himself as an individual.

The Modern Dance section of our School is operating under the supervision of Rodoula Ioannou. It follows the universally recognized system of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) in London, which, through more than 100 years of development, guarantees the perfect training and education of the students of our school.

Classes are offered for children from 6 years old.
