EXAMS

GREEK EXAMS

Examinations take place at our Academy in the presence of an examination committee. Mr George Aravidis, the Academy’s artistic director, conductor and maestro of the Athens National Opera, is the president of the committee. The curriculum and requirements of the examinations for the Classical Music Department are in accordance with the specifications set out by the Hellenic State. Upon completion of the examinations, students receive a Diploma of successful certification for their respective levels, which can reach up to Degree and Diploma standards.

Included in the educational benefits of taking examinations is the fact that the president of the examinations committee is the same every year, allowing the opportunity for the students’ progress and growth to be monitored. The aim is for the students to build a solid foundation on which they can improve their artistic development progressively.

Finally, through our academic collaborations with Hellenic Educational Institutions, we offer our students the possibility of achieving a Degree or Diploma in Classical Musical Instruments or Higher Theory which is certified by the Ministry of Culture and Sport of the Hellenic Republic.

ROCKSCHOOL EXAMS

Our Academy offers all our students the chance to obtain international certification from the British Examination Board, Rockschool, in the musical instrument of their choice. The examinations take place twice a year at the Academy.

RSL – Rockschool was founded in order to offer those who have chosen to study contemporary music the opportunity to achieve certification which is equivalent to that which exists for classical music studies.

Therefore, Rockschool offers examinations in electric and acoustic guitar, bass, drums, contemporary piano and vocals. There are 8 grades for these examinations and students can choose between the two types of diplomas that are offered. The first is the Performance Diploma and the second is the Teaching Diploma. Each of these consists of two types: Grade 4 and Grade 6, according to the NQE (National Qualification Framework). Grade 4 is a higher education certification which is equivalent to a 1st year bachelor’s degree, while Grade 6 is equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.

Certification from RSL – Rockschool offers UCAS points, which are points used for entry into universities and colleges in the United Kingdom. For Grade 6 and above, UCAS points are awarded on a varying scale, according to the candidate’s examination results.
