Music Department
Courses Of STUDY
Since the establishment of our School, the curriculum of the classical music department has been prepared in accordance with the standards set by the Greek State (Gov. Law 229 / A / 57).
The Greek examinations are held in our School before a committee of inquiry chaired by our artistic director, Mr. George Aravidis, a master-musician and conductor of several orchestras, including the Athens National Opera (resume).
Through our academic collaborations with Greek Educational Institutions, our students are given the opportunity to obtain a Degree or Diploma in Musical Instrument or Higher Theory, certified by the Ministry of Culture and Sport of the Hellenic Republic.
Our school also offers the British Classical Direction Program of ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) and the program of Trinity College London. The corresponding exams are conducted at our school exclusively by British examiners.
Preparation for admission hearings in music departments of universities in Cyprus, Greece and abroad is also available to our students.
Our School’s Contemporary Music curriculum provides degrees (Ptychio and Diploma) required for work in local Music Schools. These degrees are also recognised by Universities abroad for relative studies, on a case by case basis.
The continuous upgrading and development of our School’ Contemporary Music section has yielded in recent years a great number of students who excel in Cyprus and abroad. Graduates of the department have been awarded scholarships to renowned universities around the world, including Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA).
Our school also offers the Rockschool and Trinity Rock & Pop Programmes. The corresponding exams are conducted at our School exclusively by examiners coming from the UK.
Finally, preparation for admission hearings in music departments of Universities in Cyprus, Greece and abroad is also offered at our school.
The Traditional – Folk music section of our school offers Greek Exams for acquiring relevant titles, before a committee with well-known artists of Traditional – Folk Music.
The degree and diploma of Traditional – Folk Music are required for professional practice / teaching this type of music in local music schools (Odeia).
Preparation for admission hearings in music departments of Universities in Cyprus and Greece is also offered at our school.
Our Byzantine Music section follows the curriculum of the Byzantine Music Schools of Greece as defined by the relevant Regulations of the Greek Ministry of Culture. Examinations are held before a committee consisting of well-known and qualified musicians to obtain a Ptychion and Diploma in Byzantine Music. For those interested, our school also offers the possibility of obtaining Ptychion and Diploma certificates certified by the Ministry of Culture and Sport of the Hellenic Republic, through our partnerships with Greek music schools.
Our school’s section of Music for pre-school children offers them the opportunity to develop their first musical skills and to develop spiritually, emotionally and socially through music-related games. It also gives children the opportunity to cultivate creativity, imagination, teamwork, discipline, self-confidence, as well as enhancing their memory.
Skills are learned through musical games and fairy tales, music listening and movement, experimenting with sound and interacting with rhythmic and melodic instruments.
Ideal for students wishing to pursue a free curriculum tailored to their own preferences and needs, without exam preparation. Possibility to participate in regular educational and show-related concerts of our School.
